I typically go with male. I've tried playing as female characters in games like KotOR and Mass Effect and I just can't connect with the character; which I think is important in an RPG to get the full effect of the game.

I couldn't even make it past 10 minutes with female Shepard. Her voice sounds like nails on a chalkboard to me.

Most of the times i play a male character. But i see nothing wrong with playing a female sometimes.

Let's be fair here. The male Shepard's voice acting was 10 times as bad. Female Shepard was alright.

From what I played of Mass Effect 2 I have to agree with that statement Graeme.

Kind of depends on the game. In games like KotOR, the choice is really aesthetic. I really dislike games where I can't choose my own dialogue, or the dialogue I'm given is retardedly simple minded.

It may be poorly written, but still. Which action or dialogue BEST describes what you yourself would actually do if you were in that situation?

I definitely love KOTOR 1 and 2 (although 2 was unfinished... very disappointed by that) and The mass effect series...

I Usually pick a male character that fits the personality I'm planning to play as.

First playthrough I always make decisions as I would make them. And I make it a VERY through playthough. I even save before each branch and then reload to see what happens with the other choices... I'll always go with my first choice, but then I know what is ideal for additional playthroughs.

Mass effect 2 (First Playthough, no wikis etc)- I didn't lose a single crew member(that includes my... yeoman :) ), and by the time I was done nobody had anything left to say to me (even legion).

I ended up with about 75-25 paragon-renagade. (Damn talky krogans... I knew that guy on the station was lying! Giving that krogan the fish made him so happy! etc lol.)

Then, I always try the female side of the story... why waste half of the game!? (Atton's remarks to female Exile's questions are so much more fun :D )

As far as other sexualities... I turned mordin down. :shudders:
