Well nowa days I'm strictly a PC gamer, I use to be a bit of a Playstation fanboy and played my old ps2 quite a bit but when the release the xbox360 and the ps3 my fanboyness died because of the price, but years have past consoles have come down in price.

I have come to realise i spend way way to much money on my pc so instead of a upgrade i might go out and buy a xbox 360. For 2 reasons ive been bored lately feel like somthing new and lan gaming on pc with friends is a hell of a bitch and its easy enough to bring over a control.

So i guess i wanna know are consoles still fun?? Do the still have decent titles with good gameplay? What are the online capabilitys of an xbox? How long till the console will be replaced by a bigger better version and then becomes obsoleet??

Just throw some random facts about console gaming to help me decide?

Xbox 360, 10 year life span

The Online to the 360 is decent enough that is if you don't mind paying 60 bucks for a 12 month Gold subscription (lets you have access to playing games online with friends and demo and other stuff). There are better Titles for the 360, example would be Prototype, Halo 3,fallout three, Fight night round 4 (coming out soon).

Fight Night round 4 is probably one of the best reasons for me to buy a console :D Loved the previous games!

It depends a whole lot on what you're looking for. If you feel like enjoying a mountain of online titles, it's the 360. If you feel like enjoying a mountain of singleplayer titles, it's the PS3. There's the ups and downs to each of them.

I don't think consoles are really that cheap. You have to buy the console, additional equipment (often controllers, additional memory and even cables aren't included). Then you need a HD LCD TV and of course the more expensive games. Eventually you'll have to replace the console. They even make you pay for downloadable content or multiplayer gaming.

You don't need a HDTV. It's a nice addition, and does improve the overall addition, but it's not a requirement. The big difference with multiplayer on consoles is that you avoid hackers, cheaters, and for the most part glitchers.

Well, I've seen consoles on old CRT TVs and it looked horrible.

As for hackers and cheaters - console players probably wouldn't need any cheats to defeat me if I tried to play a FPS or strategy game with one of those weird controllers :)

sorry i have to say it but do you know anything about consoles? ok, consoles aren't that cheap but compared to a new PC with good graphic card and processor then they ARE cheap. and what are you talking about that you have to buy the controller and cables seperatly? even my ancient SEGA had everything included, and my PS2 and Xbox360 also! ok, and when your reffering to the fact that you have to buy a new one when they break, well... a keyboard can also break! and you don't need an LCD or HD TV, where do you get that crap!? even the Xbox360 wich i bought less then a half year ago comes standard with a HD TV cable AND a scart adapter. and no, even those i didn't have to buy seperate. and new games cost on PC and Console the SAME! and of course you need to buy a new console after a certain time! i have my PS2 7 years! and even now they still bring new games out for the PS2 but surely not the good ones like Fallout3 or similar but still. i want to see if your 7 year old PC can run Fallout3! and downloadable content has to be developed to! sure they want us to give them money for it! ever looked at the size a Fallout3 DLC? and you have to buy them if you have a PC OR an Xbox OR an PS3! and multiplayer gaming is totally free on the PC and PS3, only the Xbox360 asks for money, OMG 5 bucks each month, how can i afford my house now!? or games wich are ESPECIALLY and ONLY designed for online-gaming like World Of Warcraft or Hardware Online Arena! and last but not least... you have to buy additional memory!!?? WTF!? even the super cheap class of Xbox360 has standard 20GB built in memory! 20GB!!! you know how many games fit upon that much memory? and besides, the standard class of Xbox360 even has 60GB! only the consoles before the NEXT GEN of consoles need memory cards... sorry i need to say this but you have realy no idea what your talking about... or you just are a console hater and you love to mix a bit of hate in your melodramatic speeches... P.S.: i realy don't want to offend you but i hate it when people make things up just to convince other people that they're ideal is the best! this is not religion!
