when I quit simcity 4 and get back to my desktop I get this persistent lag. As it turns out, the game is still running in the background [or the system still thinks it is.]! Even if I take out the CD, the computer still is taking up like 99% percent of my system resources. Any idea why this is? I don't abruptly quit, I do it from the ingame GUI and the program quits on it's own. I have the latest SKU patches.

Win2K SP4, AMD 2.2 @ 2.1 ghz, Radeon 9800 Pro 256, Catalyst 5.8 Drivers with Control Center, 110+250 gig drives Striped RAID 0, 2 terabyte backup LaCie unit, 2 gigs Corsair PC3200

Yeah but it I uninstall them then some of my maps will be corrupted and unplayable. I guess I have to make a choice. Thanks, I hadn't thought of the plugins!

Oh, I was going to suggest buy more RAM, but then I saw you already have 2GB. No idea then.

How long does it lag for?

If it is only for a short time, then it may be Sim CIty 4 still shutting down. If not, just try Ctrl+alt+del closing it from the taskmanager.

make a clean installation of the game (backup your maps and plugins). if you don't get lag after that, it's the game that's something wrong with; not the machine,

I get lag until I go into the taskmanager and manually shut it down. Then I get the message that the program isn't responding, so I click yes to end it. I'm not gonna re-install the game [that will just create more issues.], but thanks for all your responses guys.
