I was playing GTA IV today, and read that one of the "friends" can loan you a Helicopter.

I got to thinking, what if Maxis built a new SimCopter using the GTA IV engine? I don't think a lot of tweaking would be needed.

For SimCopter, you would just disable the weapons, and turn the Helicopters into Firetrucks. Then bleep the language, and finally replace the radio stations with similarly non-sensical SimCity feeds.

One might even be able to accomplish this with a mod.

How many of you remember SimCopter, and would you buy the game?

They would have to improve the engine some, GTA IV gets very, very choppy if you turn any settings up even on mega systems.

Personally, I wouldn't buy it because SimCopter doesn't interest me. I'd rather have GTA IV

If I had GTA4, then I would download it as a mod; I'd maybe even buy it if it were cheap enough. I wouldn't do it if it were a standalone game, though.

SimCopter is good n all but GTA IV is where I'd put my money if I had to pick and both had same engines but SimCopter with GTA engine sounds good but it could get a bit stuttery, if that is a word xD

Sim is short for simlulation so SimCopter is a helecopter simulation. The actual game idea would be kinda boring...

It doesn't have to be boring. They could tweak the gameplay a little.

Its probably less of a helicopter simulation, and more of a Helicopter game.

The closest comparison I know of, is Grand Theft Auto 3-4. SimCopter was an early open ended, open world game, similar to GTA IV, but with incredibly outdated graphics.

In SimCopter you play as the city's emergency response personel. Your the cop, the ambulance driver, the firefighter, etc. When an accident happens in GTA IV, and a medic arrives on the scene. You would be playing the medic.

One cool thing about the game is, instead of having to drive those vehicles around, your given your choice of helicopters that are equipped with the abilities of an ambulance, and firetruck. (Cops get an Apache)

You know all of the crashes that seem to happen, if you stay within one block for too long, the SimCity drivers are just as bad, if not worse. Often they will total their cars to the point of catching fire. Then you have to put the fire out, and carry the injured to a hospital where they can be revived.

SimCity's denziens also have pets, pets that get stuck in trees. They also have a bad habit of getting stuck on unscalable terrain, and overturning their boats.

Give me Streets of Sim City first then Sim Copter. Both were based off of the same engine and you could import cities from Sim City 2000.

Sim city 2000 + Streets of Sim City + Sim Copter = my childhood.
