I have been looking for a good space game that I have not already played. I want a strategy game like Homeworld buy games just as Freelancer and DarkStar One are pretty good too.
So, any suggestions on a good space type strategy game? I heard Starcraft 2 is pretty good.
Hold my calls.

Check out Sins of a Solar Empire. Getting rave reviews from critics. It's a bit complicated, but it's very deep and pretty interesting to play.

Starcraft 2 isn't even out yet. That's just fanboys talking. That's more of a sci-fi RTS with some minor space combat (they double as aircraft really).
Anyways, Sins of a Solar Empire is a popular strategy game. It takes awhile, but it's rewarding. You manage planets and their economy as well as building fleets to defend and expand.
There's a series of games under the "X" title, the most recent addition being X3: Terran Conflict. There's a steep learning curve though, and you manage things from your own business, your personal fleets (this ranges from transports, fighters, carriers, and capital ships), and take up jobs and what not.
If you like Star Wars, there's an RTS series called Empire at War which features space combat, but it's not like homeworld unfortunately, but it is in a greater influence than SC II will probably be.
My question is, however, do you want a game with space setting, or with sci-fi influences? Because if someone mentioned Starcraft II, that's more along the lines of an RTS with a sci-fi setting.
I checked out Sins of a Solar Empire, it looks good but the graphics have let me down and the X3 game I looked at seem to be like a free EVE online with more menus.
Mass Effect looks good, I'm watching game play on youtube now.

I thought you were looking for a strategy? The only commanding you do in Mass Effect is telling your squad mates to go places. No space combat, no flying a ship etc.
Freelancer and Mass Effect are pretty much the same cept instead of having the ship your shooting people.

Personally i don't see that what-so-ever, also Mass Effect is an RPG, the storyline will be a massive part of the game.
