Hello,

I have bought a second hand copy of Star Trek Invasion in Amazon UK.

I owned a copy before but it froze after mission 14. I thought the CD degraded, so I then purchased another copy days ago, I completed mission 14 only for it to happen again.;)

Two degraded cd's, bare in mind this game was released end of the century for the PSone.

Anyone played this game at the time of released or after, any similar problems?

Strange. I remember this game. I don't recall ever having a problem, but I had it for the PC. It would glitch, but that was often due to the game engine arguing with my computer. It may be that you have a bogus copy? Other than that, a search of the Internet didn't yield any possible reasons for it to freeze on that mission or any mission for that matter. :uhm:

Yeah, he said he has two copies for the PlayStation(1) and both freeze on mission 14.

Yes for the PSone, it is a PSone, not the Playstation.

It definately isn't the system, I guess I was unluck with the cd's. Problem is, when these old cd's aren't stored in their cases naturally, oxygen, dust, dirt, light degrade them and with age, there will be a few corrupt files on it. I owned a copy of Driver 2 which was a christmas present back in the end of the century, disc one packed up in July 2012 or so. And that cd was stored in the case for over a decade.

On Amazon UK there is forty preowned copies available.

I have place an order for Shattered Universe for the Xbox, a 2004 release. I may consider getting the Legacy release that was a few years later for the Xbox 360.

I also did skip a several missions prior to mission 14, some are just plain rubbish just there to fill a void in the story. I got a copy of it because of the two actors voiced their roles for it.

I don't know, if I should order another copy.

Legacy is £10 altogether. Besdies the Xbox 360 which is a 4GB 2010 release, bought second hand in April 2011 for £100 compared to then shop prices for £150 or more than that. The wireless controller receiver on the system has stopped working, so I'd need to purchase a wire for £5, then legacy £15 in total. I'm trying to get purchases cheaper for more fun. Hehe!

Another copy of Invasion is £2 in total. There are slightly more priced copies 30p plus packaging and delivery £2. Or going higher.

So far I have spent £3.49 for Invasion of two copies seperately.

Well I've for the Shattered in the ordered queue, so I'll just wait and see.

So Invasion was Star Trek's first sanctioned game, licensed along with two actors who voiced it. Elite force came out before it. But I guess Paramount put their backing behind it due to sound effects etc

I was able to complete this game the other day. I didn't do very well. I was able to apprehend Captain Brennan in the last mission but I only completed with a try. So the ending clip was different to the final one had I completed mission 14a or so. It somehow affects the story. A wormhole mission, totally insane. You take control of the Typhon's cannon and shoot like mad, one had to be able to predict the enemies of where they drop out of warp from, and then fire away.

It's fifteen years old this production. So I have to look at it from the era in which it was released. I guess it was a blast for those who were quite intrigued.

I guess I liked the last mission #16 due to seeing the Soverign class ship, there was mission five were you did get to tractor beam a shuttle craft to the Typhon, which Micheal Dorn's actual recording refered mistakeningly to it as a shuttlepod.

A 'first contact' game could of been made for the PS, there was the opportunity.
