Hey folks. I need your input on this, I have been asked by a few friends to join them online in Star Wars Galaxies, although I have been to the site, i need to have more opinions on the game itslef is it better to pay what ever per month, and have an open ended univers, or would you suggest I take OUTCAST. having finished both KOTOR's, and thier available mods, I need some advise about what to play next. admittedly the Galaxies are going to cost me more due to not having internet at home. if there are any guys playing galaxies at home in South Africa please rewcomend a service provider, do i go for I-Burst, or stick with Telkom. I just wanna make sure that spending money to play a game online is firstly worth it, and that the gameplay is going to exceed that of the Kotor series, cause lets face it, this is going to be a long term outlay. this is all because they are taking so long with Kotor 3, i have to keep busy some how.

i tried galaxies for just under a month, i didn't like it at all. it might be open ended and all that jazz, but its progression paths, and quests suck a huge one. i did enjoy flying round in my fighter though =]

Ok, really galaxies cost too much for me..but its not bad. Pretty much you can beat the main "story" in about 2 months easily by yourself..and faster with friends. Guilds and pvp are pretty much the whole game but ship flying is fun if you want to face computers in something more fast paced. Also It deos have a lot of very nice looking items and ect. to allow you to make your character your own personal avatar or whatever for the game. Combat is pretty good, you can get your own house and fill it with stuff, theres some really cool planets but for a while your stuck on tatooine so..thats a big let down. There are some cool events such as vader or luke coming to a certain planet and giving you pvp or pvc missions. Also The planets are HUGE It takes about an hour to 2 hours on a speeder to get across tatooine so...sometimes that can be a pain..but not all the time. So pretty much its an 7-9/10 depending on how much you play and if your an mmorpg kind of person. So pretty much if you have the money, Id say at least try it for a few months. Ok, that about all Ive got on galaxies. Outcast is better if your not an mmorpg...er.

Kotor is the best game there is, but outcast is better and cheaper than galaxies

I consider Knights of the Old Republic 1 to be one of the best games ever. It completely trounces all of the other games you listed. Jedi Outcast is the second-best game on that list. Knights of the Old Republic 2 isn't very good, unfortunately.

As for Star Wars Galaxies, just... don't. It was broken from day one, and it has only become worse since. To say nothing of the fact that virtually nobody plays the damned thing anymore due to Sony Online Entertainment screwing its playerbase over. If you really want to get into an MMORPG, there are much better ones out there - try Everquest 2 or Vanguard, for example. Or wait for a few of the promising releases on the horizon.

Well let's make a list and start from the top! Star Wars Galaxies: Sony screwed this one up bad; Gone. Knights of the Old Republic 2: Awsome RPG with a fair storyline, but not as good as the first; Gone. Knights of the Old Republic: One of the best RPGs I've ever played, but... You can't beat a simple FPS with a good assortment of force-powers and weapons in deathmatch or team environment where personal skill is all that matters! It's got a good console that makes for a fun single-player (after you beat it of course) and new multiplayer game every time (I love zero-G lightsaber fights :P). Sadly, the greatest SW game isn't on here.. I dedicate this post to Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II!

thanks guys after reading your replies I did go out and get OutCast afterall, played it and I must say I should have played it before I played KOTOR, while the skills with the FORCE were more thought out than KOTOR and the slow motion lightsaber kills were very cool, it just didnt do for me what KOTOR did. perhaps the fact that the characters where so badly pixalated, I dont know. so I will go onto Galaxies and spend money aimlessly untill they bring out KOTOR III, they had better not disappoint me...

Galaxies? =/ I'm sorry lol... I'd offer you my jedi account because I never play it any more, but I just remember that it's an SE account. I can't wait for Bioware's version of SWG to come out.. It's gonna PWN SOE! I just hope they don't get rid of entertainer.

Personally I think that KOTOR is the best game EVER - great gamplay + the greatest storyline. The sequal wasn't that bad ,but they shouldn't have rushed the production - there's alot of cut material. Alot of people criticise KOTOR 2 ,but it's a very philisophical game. One of my favorite game characters is Kreia - even though there was alot of cut material her image was very complete.
