Good luck running it at high settings though, im also gonna love to see how they did the controls since each button on the controllers was a forcepower im pretty sure unless they do it like jka but that would destroy being able to quickly combine powers...
The simple answer with the controls issue is that if you don't have a controller it's probably not going to end well for you. You ever try playing the 360 version with a keyboard, just for lulz? Lack of a controller seriously makes the game far more difficult than anything the AI could ever throw at you.
For those who've never played it, a summary. It's basically Onimusha with lightsabers, but don't expect any adventure elements at all - it's straight up running around and smacking people. Entertaining while it lasts, but the controls are pretty basic. Not a huge fan of linear, repetitive button-mashers like Dynasty Warriors or Devil May Cry? It's probably gonna get boring once you've played all the levels a few times and unlocked all the stuff.
Okay, so let's talk about saving some pennies, because I know you lot never think about economics when new Star Wars stuff hits the market.
My advice, is to wait for it to hit the pre-owned shelves. The reasoning for this simple. RRP is £27.99, but when pre-owned copies pop up in your local store, they'll likely be priced at around £7.99 (maybe a bit higher but they generally drop to that within the first two months of the game being out). When I worked at Gamestation I saw pre-owned copies of new games coming in as early as within three weeks from launch.
Okay, so I'll admit that some games are worth buying new (notably games which require CD keys to be registered for online play or extra content). However TFU doesn't have any of that stuff; LucasArts have no CD key registration or user-lock DRM systems in place, and tbh most devs don't bother editing or optimizing their software when porting it anyway, they only do it in the first place for a quick buck.
Ultimately, it's almost certain that whether you buy TFU new or pre-owned, you get access to all the same stuff. So is it really worth the extra £20? I mean, it's not like you're buying X3 which has all this awesome bonus content for those who register their CD keys, or Spore which has this bollocks "buy me new or you can't play me" DRM.
Dude purchases TFU for £27.99. Three weeks later dude is bored of TFU and trades it in for like, £4 of store credit. Store then puts it back on sale for twice that in the pre-owned section, and you then go in and buy a £27.99 game for £7.99. LucasArts get their cut, store gets theirs - and you save £20 just by being patient, and can then spend that money on one or even two extra games (or beer, if you're old enough).
It's gamer economics!
I don't know how, and I don't know why, but this is totally Sheep's fault.
Haha very long post, Mikouen. But I am excited (and somewhat pissed). I just rented the force unleashed for the Playstation 2, if anyone still remembers what that is. And it owns basically. I just don't wanna see if they make it like jedi academy, with the confusing force change and everything.
Please moddable content please moddable content *crosses fingers*
uhh instead of changing force in JKA u can just bind those keys, an example: Bind x force_throw, Bind b +force_lightning
There are only so many keys... any besides I don't want to look like some psycho person smashing my keyboard all around just to shoot some lightning at a stormtrooper.
*sigh( Sonic i ment the controls in tfu for pc they would need to think of a smart control scheme so you can use the force powers well and im pretty sure they won't have that cheap console and binding system jka and JO had.
Thanks for the links, but the new website is already on the way and will be launched very soon.
@ Mikouen Lol, nice post ;) I won't give LucasArts about 50€ (about 70$, that's what a game normally costs in Germany when it's "new") for the Ultimate Sith Edition! They said "There will never be TFU for PC! 100%! Never!" and now they're releasing it, after I've spent about 75€ or more into my 360-TFU because of the DLC etc... I WILL buy TFU for the PC, but not for 50€! -.-
I'll wait a bit before I buy it until it'satleast at 40 here =/ , in germany
