because it is better than Crysis, of course, you silly man, you.
its in game? so if im playing i can actually freeze time and get so close to the fly it will look that detailed? amazing.
>Omen<;4940300LOL, will you ever stop with the hype about what you always claim to be in game screenshots bud? Clearly you are no expert on the subject and have been corrected several times on what you are claiming to be gameplay graphics. The bigger topic right now is Id having been recently acquired by Bethesda's parent company ZeniMax Media, and whether it will limit their creativity, beta testing, game release quality and patch support.
Hey, genius, before you go ranting on about how im WRONG, why don't you go watch the ingame trailer from the E3 it was displayed at (08 i believe) so you can stop bothering people WHO KNOW WHAT THEIR TALKING ABOUT, k? Cause it shows that all of those pics match the graphics, and, well, with a max of 128,000 x 128,000 res, you can bet your god damn ass it looks like that. You better start learning about what the hell your talking about because your really starting to piss me off. (the only time i've ever been corrected was when i posted that screenshot of Heavy rain.... that's it)

thats what the developers have stated because of their megatexturing technique which allows them to apply very detailed textures to anything, no matter the size. And junk angel, the fly pic is when the dev during the E3 video froze the game and zoomed in on a fly and did a commentary about how all the small things in the game can have tremandous detail because of megatexturing. I'm absolutely sure (because Tim said so) that all the pics were taken from an intro/cutscene but as he said, everything that has been shown, and i mean everything 100%, has been rendered in realtime, ingame, if anyone says differently... Well, their obviously just trolling or have no idea what their talking about. Ah yes, almost forgot to mention, this game is going to be on the 360, PS3, and PC, all versions will be exactly the same except for the PC and 360 versions coming on two disks and the 360 version looking slightly worse because of compression issues.

Um, no. A mega texture is a single large texture to be applied to a large static space instead of multiple small textures, creating the illusion of a highly detailed varied terrain or surface, thus saving memory.
Why does anyone need that much detail on a fly?
Ihaterednecks;4940482Why does anyone need that much detail on a fly?
It was just a demonstration of what the ID Tech 5 (rage engine) engine is capable of, i'm sure that when rage is done, it will look better then how it does now, it still looks slightly unfinished (if your aware of everything it can do).

we need all the little details to make the game look good. because everyone knows that all games these days are about the graphics. that rights, we know this game is gonna rock because it looks good. but all sarcasm aside whats the point of this thread? "this game may look better then crysis" ok ... cool? you also cant make assumptions at this time since its still being developed. i remember when i was waiting for crysis, i remembered how awesome the game looked but when the final product came out it went from, "OMG i just dropped a load this looks awesome!" to looks better then most games.

Crysis arguebly looks much better then when it was first announced and had its first screens released to how it looks now, it's textures have MUCH more detail and depth and the shadows look more natural. Before the vegetation looked plastic and the shadows looked too sharp and defined.
Screenshots shown still look ridiciously fake.
