I wasn't sure where to put this since Steam is a content delivery system for a multitude of games, so I just put it here. But it seems Steam was... well... hacked? http://www.dailytech.com/STEAM+Hacked+User+Credit+Cards+May+be+at+Risk/article6972.htm I've seen the message the guy posted and it seems very real indeed. I'm not going to post the forum where I saw his message at because I think it'd violate the rules here since he distributed some illegal files, but it seems this guy is very serious.

Well I always buy Steam games from the shop as I don't believe Valve to be a trustworthy company, so have never given them any financial information. Sucks to be those that have. I find it funny though, if it's true, Valve must be s**ting themselves.

that's true, for those who are in the clear. It still shows that there are potential security risks when it comes to content delivery systems though.

Of course, tbh I'm glad this has happened. It proves to all the Steam/Valve fanboys that the company is not perfect and the system is not perfect, as some seem to think.

I've always hated Steam. Any Steam game I own, I got in a real-life retail shop. I really wish you could just have the games themselves, and not deal with Steam's crap software.

Agreed, considering my Steam games also come from "real" shops the only thing Steam has ever done on my computer is advertise.

The source engine is fine, it's one of the leading engines as well. Steam is the program used by Valve to keep track of and to distribute their games.

To be honest, I've never had a problem with Steam unless it is a problem I cause myself.

Server browser, auto-patcher, friends list, and customisation options, Id say it's a good system.

updateeeeeeeeeeeeee

look at the bottem

"There has been no security breach of Steam. The alleged hacker gained access to a third-party site that Valve uses to manage the commercial partners in its Cyber Café program. This Cyber Café billing system is not connected to Steam. We are working with law enforcement agencies on this matter, and encourage anyone with more information to e-mail us at Catch_A_Thief@valvesoftware.com."
