Strange. I only just heard about this game now. It appears inXile Entertainment(you may remember them from the Kickstarter for Wasteland 2, which is still in development) have obtained the rights for the Torment license. They're now in the process of developing a sequel to the popular and, in my own opinion at least, one of the greatest CRPGs of all time; Planescape: Torment. They're calling it Torment: Tides of Numenera.
Wanted to post a thread about that but forgot. Planescape Torment was one of the best RPGs ever, so I'm curious about this sequel.
I didn't really like the news about a new setting. The setting was woven deeply into the story of the original, so without the same setting it will be impossible to make a real sequel.
I don't think they have anyone of the original Planescape team on board and the games that company produced until recently have been crap.
Maybe they can produce something decent with all their kickstarter money, but so far this doesn't look promising.
Seems fair to be critical of it. I've read up a bit on the world, and it doesn't seem to be part of the D&D universe as I had assumed. Still, I'm going to keep an eye on this. The tabletop version sounds entertaining, so maybe they'll be able to port over a few of those features.
To be fair, what they seem to be doing with Wasteland 2 looks good so far.
