Does this actually have a Guildwars@filefront.com address/website ? That could be why this FORUM lamed out as opposed to soo many other sites out there.

Many other sites have great traffic, this one could too. I do play this game, with factions.

There is no FileFront site for Guild Wars, simply because we'd have nothing to put on it. All the other sites are filled with Mods/AddOns, patches, news and such, but there are no Mods for GW, patches are distributed by ANet, and News is on their website...

Well .. news would be good. Snapshots .. links ... suggestions ... tips .. tricks ... it wouldn't have all the content the others do .. but we could get something rolling.

There is a point there. Other sites include non-file aspects. But, a GW site would require constant updating, dedicated staff, and it'd need a hell of a lot of info in the non-files to be worthwhile.

There are files available for GW, but there's just too high a risk factor with them, as with any file made for an MMO. Videos could come in the files category, as could home-made wallpapers, and client download, but that's about it.

You could try and sweet-talk Pro-Filer, convince him it'd be a worthy endeavour, etc etc. I personally don't think it'd make an impact, to be honest, but you never know....

I don't think you will get lots of traffic either... I mean there are Guild Wars sites that overrun us by far. Like guildwarsguru and guildwarsonline. I don't think that there is a way for us to get a Guild Wars Site that gets a lot of traffic. It's all discussions, just take a look on guru. Discussions and tips, not files.

In the case of Guru, one can only wonder why it manages to outrun anything, but GWO is pretty much top of the game as far as GW fansites go.

There are other sites dedicated to games we take up also. In fact, every game we take up, that we take the time to put up a website, a forums, take on moderators, has 500 other sites just like our. Soffiles. Bffiles. black and white CnC and so on and so forth. What makes Gw so different ? Because there is no contect to be had ? how are these other sites doing it then ? They are doing it cause they want to and because they can. what makes us so different with this "one".

I'm assuming it's likely because this network is aimed at files and mods, rather than information. Hence, FilesNetwork, FileFront Network, etc.

Don't get me wrong, I'd be more than happy to go as far as needed to bring "GWFiles" into existence. Hell, I'd go as far as to set up every last detail of the site design and draw up a full strategy of what the site will be and how it will become that, if necessary.

Looking at it from a practical viewpoint, though. it's really a bit too late in the game for it now. "GWFiles" wasn't around at the start to get rooted in, so it'd have a lot of catching up to do, and then afterwards, it would need to surpass these other, fully-established communities in order to gain traffic.

With dedicated staff, and a dedicated starting community, sure it's possible. But, it would take an unprecedented amount of work, and frankly, I think the higher-ups would rather have that work spread out in other places rather than focused on one risky venture.

But like I said, no one can give you a definite answer other than Pro-Filer.

I'd like to see it happen too, but it doesn't seem at all likely, I'm afraid.

kouen ... you can obviously run a site cause you do it already. I don't have any experience in the site management here. I will talk to pro, and see what his take on it is. What is the worst he can say ? No? fine... The venture, we try it for a little bit and if it doesn't take off. They shut it down. There isn't anymore work on their part than any other site they begin is there?

Would love to learn the inner workings also. So maybe it could be used as a teaching tool for me a little bit (that is if you have time).

Like i said, if it doesn't work, they retire it like they have sooooooooo many other sites that were put up and failed out. Yes i understand that it is "file"front. But it wouldn't hurt to bend out and be "information"front also. We have tech help and soo on and they don't have any @filefront addy's either :D

What do you think ?

Same thing I've been thinking all along - it's worth a try, we're all willing to work at it, but the competition, and Pro's plans for the network, are obstacles.

So, bottom line, I think it's worth a try at the very least.
