I got a copy of this on friday I love it so much better than True Crime Streets of LA. :)

When I started the game I was a bit dissapointed 'cause it screamed that ****e Fitty Cent advert for his game of just shooting people and when I actually got to drive a car in the city the frame-rate was slow. But after the SH!TE beginning and when you actually get to go round the city yourself, the frame rate goes smooth again. It's just that Luxoflux thought it'd be a good idea to start the game off on Broardway where there are tons and tons of huge, flashing posters that really make the game chug. The rest, as I've said before, is OK. Now, I'll admit it, TC:LA was a bit crap. Apart from the story and the odd random street crime, there was literally **** all to do except drive around and it was an awful representation of LA. It even fudged up major parts of it. I swear, nothing was like it is in real life apart from the pimp JJ Smooth Daddy. He was class. But TC: NYC is far, far deeper. There's litter floating about in the wind, there are far more people in the streets, there are more cars (some even parked), it rains, it's sunny, it snows and the sky is always changing. Some people even get calls on their phones and start chatting to people on the other line. The buildings and cars are far more detailed. When you start off some areas of New York are in a real piss poor state. But if you work at beating crime then the rubbish will slowly go and the buildings will start to look better, the sorts of people walking the streets will improve and shops will either open for longer or will actually open. And this time you don't just do random crimes, there are many different things to do. Get a haircut, buy some new clothes, buy new cars and give them a street and police upgrade, learn different martial arts styles, buy some really, really good and fun weapons (flame throwers, tazer guns, sniper rifles, rocket launchers, molotov cocktails, flick knives, sledge hammers, huge assault rifles shotguns and many more) enter street races, enter fight arenas, drive this Middle Eastern man's cab for him, explore the city and loads of other stuff. Before when you got a call about someone doing something they shouldn't you could just shoot them. But this time, sometimes, there's someone you can bring in for questioning. If you kill him it doesn't really matter, but if you bring him in (i.e. not killing him), he'll give information about something bigger going down and its location. You'll get a call about it and you have to go toa specific place, go inside and try and capture them alive, search the place for evidence and you even sometimes get help from two other officers who are an actual help instead of a liability. Also, if you're chasing someone in your car there'll usually be 2 or 3 other police cars there too, and they'll shoot at the car, ram it or try to block him off left, right and at the front. They'll also help you if you get into fights with a large group of people. They even give you cover fire in a shootout!

anybody else played this ? what do you think of it ?

This game's down right laggy. It's really annoying.

Well from your description it sounds good. How is the story mode if you continually follow it through?

Well... there are points where you get to choose to do missions for your dad I suppose if you make different options you get different endings, I havent completed it yet but.. choosing different options most probably will get you different endings. So it should get better each time you play it through.

in answer to your question.

Is it fully mapped the whole of NY, like they mapped out LA!

Gamespot gave the game a 4.6. :Puzzled: Generally it isn't hard for me to enjoy a game, but this doesn't look all that great. Lacks the depth of GTA, and apparently the technical issues make it somewhat unplayable...

Yeah, I don't see how ANYONE could enjoy this game. Stick with Streets of LA if you want to play any True Crime game (GTA is a much better series, though). I find that Gamespot usually has the best reviews for games.

All the other review sites and magazines also gave it a horrible rating. Almost as bad as 50 Cent's game was...
