Given my current monitor is an LG ultrawide 2560x1080 monitor, it has both DisplayPort and HDMI.

Currently I have to use HDMI as I have no DisplayPort cables. Would switching to DisplayPort offer any realistic benefits over HDMI?

DisplayPort has less input lag if you happen to be playing Rocksmith. Slightly higher refresh rates, little bit less screen tearing, but not a huge difference since HDMI standards hit 2.0.

All you really get from DisplayPort these days is the ability to daisy-chain screens.

I don't know how, and I don't know why, but this is totally Sheep's fault.

There's not really any true benefits, aside from what Mikouen mentioned. I use DisplayPort for my primary, but that's because it has no audio capabilities so I might as well.

If your monitor has speakers, you may as well go with HDMI.

It has a locking connector, so it won't fall out accidentally.
