I generally stick with the standard game soundtrack (if it has one), or nothing at all.

When I'm playing Audiosurf, though, I tend to choose heavier, faster tracks - they're more challenging to play through. :)

Audiosurf is pretty awesome with most trance music. I sometimes listen to music when I'm playing games which don't have sound, but there isn't any particular genre I choose.

I usually play hard rock for shooters.

Same here, I try to stick with the soundtrack in game; if I try to play something online thats competitive I get my game thrown off and people end up bitching at me.:cya:

But, if I feel like it, I'll usually turn on some rock, metal, hip-hop, comedy, rap (rarely), or retro (old games or remixes to them)... thats about it. Everything else just plain sucks. IMO; shouldn't have to type that, but you never know what idiot is reading this.:uhoh:

(currently listening to Sonic 2 remix)

I really only get into music along side the game if I make a video of it. Usually the built in music in games either doesn't sound good to me or is too distracting. I like to be able to hear the enemy.

I don't listen to music when I play games, with the only exception being the GTA series. Generally my user track station is mostly jazz, with a few of my favorite songs in addition.

Usually just the in-game music. I do put on some music at times, for shooters or racing games it usually fast paced metal, rock, or maybe some good techno if i'm in the mood.
