We all know that BLizzard has produced some of the finest games that we know. But what is with their problem with release dates? I know that Blizzard takes their time with their games to make it as good as possible, but come on, they announced SC2 a year and a half ago and now we get the info that they are 1/3 complete! Whats taking them so long on all their new titles?

At the June 2008 Blizzard Worldwide Invitational, Blizzard Executive Vice President Rob Pardo was quoted as saying that development of the campaign was one-third complete and that there would be significantly more to show by the end of 2008

There are multiple resources that I heard from but the best summary I could find was on wikipedia (yeah, we know that wikipedia is not a trusted website).

Ever notice that every single Blizzard title is polished so much it's reflection is almost un-bearable? I don't care how long they take to release games, as long as the quality they have always been, I'm happy.

I do too notice how amazing they are, just wish they would announce it when they are at least half way through production. It's kinda annoying to most of the fans (you can see I am one too) when they say "it's almost done!" then like 1 and a halfe later they say they have some more work to do. I'm just a little skepitcal about their release dates, thats all.

The fact is, we are in an age of instant gratification. I highly doubt Blizzard would tell you the game is nearly complete and provide some kind of release date, as their policy has always been "it's done when it's done". Read articles simply for the information, not the hype.

Well it has not always been that, but it's been for a while... after they had announced games and then had to delay for several months (Diablo II ? ^^' )

I think that Blizzard is better on this matter to be honest because they release a fully completed game that has a high quality. Take for example Funcoms Age of Conan. It was in the betastages when it was released, and now they have lost 80% of their gamers, because they were rushing for a release.

What I am trying to say is that the gaming companies SHOULD take their time to develop games, and Blizzard has loads of things that they are creating. Diablo III, Starcraft 2, Development of WoW BC, WoW WotLK.

Blizzard is notorious for having their games take forever to come out... We will get some info on Starcraft 2 at this years Blizzcon 2008, rest assured. :)

I'd actually say Stacraft 2 will come out this christmas. It's a good time to send out a game that is as hyped as SC2 to guarantee good sales and push over the opposition.

As for polishing over. Not so sure about that to be honest. /me cringes at recalling SC 1 and w3 1.0.

One of the reasons it takes them so long is very simple. Exciting the masses which if information is released correctly get a lot more willing to buy a game. Most of all if they have to wait longer then shorter even. We can fully assume that SC2 and even D3 is far more complete than what is shown.
