i have to agree, but if i had to chose another, id say Zone of the enders, made by the same guy, Hideo Kojima. He makes the graphics look awesome.

In terms of longevity I would say the SimCity or Civilization games. They still owns 100%.

'Dreadnought[DK']In terms of longevity I would say the SimCity or Civilization games. They still owns 100%.

Civ II: Test of Time. One of my oldest and still one of my fave games. In my strategy collection, it's second only to my beloved AoE2.

For me, the best game I've ever played is Frontier: Elite II. It was a real gaming revolution when it came out, and it even lives on today with a wide fanbase. It did so much for the whole space sim genre, and it offered a freedom and scale the likes of which I've never seen in any other game.

Frontier was definitely my kind of game, and out of everything I've ever played, that's the one which truly drew me in, and the only one which I enjoyed playing consistently ever since the day I got it - and that was ten years ago.

So, while I wouldn't go so far as to say "best ever", because in the end it really comes down to individual perception, for me Frontier will always reign supreme.

(Although the way Egosoft are going, the next game in the X-Universe series may change that. Provided Elite IV doesn't own me by the time it's released, that is.)

I don't know how, and I don't know why, but this is totally Sheep's fault.

Star wars: Knights of the old republic 1. I've finished it about 6-7 times and loved everytime. I really hope the 3rd is made by Bioware.

Half-life 1 and 2 for it's great atmosphere.

Halo 1 for having great AI and levels.

Morrowind for being massive, great music score, cool story and lots to do.

Freelancer, Deus Ex, and Baulder's Gate II. Open ended gameplay coupled with alternate endings makes games better and longer.
