Is it true that only people 'in the business' can enter E3, not the general paying public? I never thought so, but my friends say different.

You have to prove you work for a game company, developer, publisher, etc...
Journalists can get in aswell obviously.
You need a press pass, basically.

You realise if your not wearing your badge they eject you from the building? Assuming you manage to even 'sneak' in without one. Besides they won't be able to see / do a great deal without a pass. Only people in the Gaming Industry can get a pass into E3.

Yeah, E3 is for the serious and important business... However there are other gaming conventions allowed for the normal gamers (Although so fucking expensive).
If you manage to set up a well known and popular site, such as Pennyarcade, you can get in also.. but doing that is very hard.

Or be sure you are a long time member of staff for FileFront (forums, network sites), I could have gone this year with Alex if I wanted to. Perhaps next year (I can't pay for more then one longg distance trip, I'm a poor student :( ).
