Yes, that's my question. Why is it fun? I played it through a few missions and it seemed so extremely repititious that I totally lost all interest in playing it anymore. The gameplay is not bad, it's just so overused and boring. Why did this game get such high scores since it's just average?

I think there was a lot of initial excitement over the way you could climb, use stealth, jumps, the background story, and the hidden blade, but lately that sentiment seems to be wearing off rather quickly as many have echoed what you've said. Not only that the AI glitches make some of the citizens look like they're having spaz attacks.

I was hearing awesome stuff about it before it came out. As soon as it came out though, all I was hearing about was how repetitious it was. I didn't find it fun

Yup, that about sums it up. But the AI glitches aren't as common as you made it sound (as far as I've noticed). At least get to your first assasination before you stop playing entirely. Maybe that will change your mind.

lol, I got about three or four assassinations in. It was just so dull. It wasn't so bad that I was angry when playing it but it just seemed like a time killer. Like it was something to do, not something you wanted to do.

Maybe it's just the fun I had with the Emperor's Tomb game I bought on the cheap once, or maybe those trailers showing the AC character being able to manuever so well, but I had assumed in such a game when there wasn't action going on there'd at least be some interesting puzzles of the likes of Indiana Jones. To tell you the truth I was a bit worried with such limited ways of fighting that it would be repetitious in that sense.

another of these kinds of threads... ive said it at least 3 times in that orange box thread. no game is meant for everyone. if you dont like it im cool with it and personaly i played a little of it with a friend. and i must agree with you somewhat. probably the really fun thing to do was to kill random people.

...No one can not like the Orange box. There is every type of game in there so there's nothing not to like about it! I'm saying for the genre this game is in (Platformer/Action) it's very boring. I could feel the semi-Sam Fisher elements in it but they were no where near as cool or fun.

The thing is - It's set in a wonderfully created world that's full of atmosphere and looks pretty amazing. But the gameplay never really uses the potential of the environment. It looks really great on the surface...but the gameplay consists of basically repeating about 4 or 5 mini game type objectives (so easy) until finally getting at least some variety in the assassinations. In order to get to the assassinations though....you have to repeat the dull process of doing those mini games. The world seems like a living and breathing world, yet the AI doesn't allow for much potential to mess around. The guards also apparently don't find some suspicious guy climbing a building above them and leaping down, anything suspicious. I would have liked the game to be more creative in what you do by using the environment around you... not just the same mini games repeated over and over. Since there is already going to be an Assassins Creed 2, I sure hope Ubisoft actually expand on the gameplay this time by adding something like a day/night cycle so you can plan your assassinations to be at night. Anything that allows for some more creativity and variety.

The game is repetitive and that is makeing it boring sometimes but is also fun because you can climb, use stealth and you are free to go anywhere. The combat is poor because you are not attacked by all the enemy around you
