Hey guys, I have 2 games (Virtual Pool & Virtual Pool 2) that I used to enjoy a couple of years ago. Well a couple of years ago I was able to play those on Win XP just fine. I havn't played them a long while and decided to install them on my Win 2K box.
When I try to install them it tells me that "this version of Windows is not supported" and it exits the install. As I said, I no longer use XP so that is not an option. Am I basically screwed with no way of installing these 2 games?
Any help greatly appreciated. :)
Theres some options somewhere in the control pannel that let you turn on backwards compatibility, but depending on when this game was made that may or may not work.
This is what you do on XP, dunno about 2000. But right click on the exe. that you want to use, go to compatibiity, and then click "run this program in compatibility mode for-" and click an option.
Well I've had this problem myself, with NFS:IV High Stakes. Even editing the registry didn't fix it... I'd say you won't be able to install it on Windows 2000.
Guys, those compatibility options don't work in Windows 2000. I haven't been able to find them if they do exist for anything except DOS. It is sopposed to be able to Run all Windows programs, but the game is designed to not install on WinNT4, which doesn't support Win9x apps.
Windows 2000 and Windows XP are Windows NT 5. WinXP has an option to fool the program into thinking its Win9x, Windows 2000 doesn't.

I'v had programs work that were not ment for XP, namely from using the compatibility options.
Thanks guys, as stated I no longer use XP so compatibility mode is not an option. I'll just scout around for a comparable game and see what I can find. :)
