wussup everyone, I randomly got an error message today while trying to load up AAO, it said

Error setting display mode: CreateDevice failed (8007000E). Please delete your armyops.ini file if this error prevents you from starting the game.

History: UD3DRenderDevice::UnSetRes <- CreateDevice <- UD3DRenderDevice::SetRes <- UWindowsViewport::TryRenderDevice <- UWindowsViewport::OpenWindow <- UGameEngine::Init <- InitEngine

Not sure what this means, but i know that my game has been randomly crashing alot lately, and i'm positive it's not my comp, because none of my other games crash, just wondering if this is a bug, or if it's just me. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Try deleting the .ini file. Don't worry, another will be created when you start the game up. Try it and see if it helps. Might be crashing because you may have an .ini from an older version.

My Notepad somehow got deleted so i cant read alot of documents, but is the .ini file the notepad in the system folder with the small yellow gear on the icon, or is it just the notepad with the regular notepad icon?

It's both. However, before you delete them, make backups and put them on your desktop or somewhere else where you won't forget them, just in case. Should be fine, though, delete them and see if it helps.

First I tried just moving them both from the system folder and placing them on the desktop, no luck. Then I tried Deleting them from my desktop, thus not having them on my comp at all, still, no luck. After I tried to load it up, and it didnt work, there was a new set of .ini files in the system folder, right where I had my last pair.

That is suppose to happen. Those .inis are required for the game to run. Try playing for a while, you shouldn't crash anymore.

dude this may be wrong, but the second i patched 2.1/ i restarted the game and i checked the box to play the game demo!! well everytime id walk away from the menu screen it would run the demo . then when i joined a mission, 10 minutes later crashed with that same critical error message......... for about 3 days. so i unchecked that box and havent had a problem since then... ive never had it happen on any other games so it may have been that demo mode

The critical error message you are talking about is different than the one he is talking about, I believe. He can't even start the game, yours is a bit different. Do you know what it says?

His error is caused by a conflict between most likely old .inis and the new version (2.1). Yours must be some bug with the demo recording, but I can't be positive as I have just kept it off and have yet to experiance a crash.

You are not wrong in that the demo was causing you problems, because it most likely was. This is a new feature and was bound to be buggy. Hopefully all will be fixed in 2.2(Or whatever the next version is).
