Does anyone know if it would be possible to make an alternate version of the asimilator ray that could be used by an alien race such as species 8472, Only the ray would decrease the crew of the ship and increase the species players biomatter amount instead of their population.

Effectively the species special weapon if it worked would be taking crews and turning them into bio matter.

Could it work?

hmmmmm i dont think this can be done or it could be done but youd have to edit the sourse code of the game itself and seeing how it hasnt been realsed yet you can't edited that code but i'm only and odf editer so i guess i could be wrong but it just doesnt seem possible to me it would be like taking crew and adding officers but i could be wrong i just dont think it'll be done

thats a cool idea, and it MIGHT work, look around in the odfs, see whats possible.

Well looking at it from a possibility point of view, this might be theorectically done using the borg holding beam in some fashion. Or possibly editing the auto-assimilator.

i think the basic mining ray the 8472 ships have can mine from ships while reducing there health so you could posibly copy the species 8472 mining beam call it a diffrent name and add the line disableCrew = 1 at the end of the file this wouldnt exactly drain the crew but it would add bio mater and take away crew

what rate does it drain crew, and can it be changed?

Disable crew = 1 should disable the life suport systems .So it doesnt actualy drain the crew it just turns off life suport ,which does the same thing really.

I think the valid commands are : ______________________________________________________________________ disableShields = 1 disables shields disableWeapons = 1 disables weapons disableSensors = 1 disables sensors disableCloak = 1 disables cloaks disableCrew = 1 Disables crew ______________________________________________________________________ These should work in a special weapon ,but so far i have only tried them in nebula Weapons. As to whether you can change the rate that the crew drains at ,I do not belive this to be posible. I think its about the same as an auto asimilator

dont hold me to this as I have changed all the ships in my game to need large amounts of crews and officers (to keep the number of ships down)
