Using the fusion weapon special weapon or perhaps the similar one on the galaxy I am thinking of making a carrier that could 'detach' ten or so small (pod sized) fighter with a lightly powered phasor or missle launcher each.

I am not sure yet on the possibilities, However that way the carriers can actually hold the fighters instead of simply building them when needed.

The carrier could be a through deck model that looks no different when loaded as it does once unloaded except perhaps for some deck light.

Does anyone have any input.

that would be nice aginst light ships, but i don't have a clue how to do it.

Galaxy separation is virtually useless when it comes to modding. The references to the sauser and stardrive are hardcoded into the game. However, one way that you could do it is to have one of the two separated pieces be the main carrier. That would result in the possiblity of infinite fighters though. It would be equivalent to the full galaxy splitting into the full galaxy and the sauser and then this would enable it to split again to be full galaxy and the sauser, and so on. But you have to really change around file names and special weapons. I've given this alot of thought, however I've reasoned that what is possible is too far away from what is trying to be achieved and to much work to make it worth it.

But give it a try, it is always possible to discover something new. Be warned though, make sure it works before you announce you have found a way to do it. Most of the community has already exausted the possibilities in relation to separation scripts.
