Does anyone know how to convert a ship from another game (eg SFC3) to Armada 2? I really want to do some conversions of files for myself and im hoping some of you could help me by telling me how to do the conversions. Thanks in advance for any info, Mertek :)

If you want to convert a ship from SFC3 to A2, you will need Milkshape 3d (I'm not sure if 3d Studio Max has a downloadable SFC3 plugin) and the MS3D SFC3 plugin. Then will need to export it as a .sod file and add hardpoints in Assimview.

Actually the SFC2 3dmax studio importer also works for SFC3 models (just don't import the breakmodel). Only problem is you'll find that around 90% of SFC3 based models are of quite a high poly count (3k+ seems to be the norm), so most pc systems will have problems with them if they're in A1/A2 format.

SFC textures, as you know, are BMP's. Its just a simple matter of resaving them as UNCONVERTED, 24 bit TGA textures, and then just reassigning them to the model. The models themselves tend to be a single mesh so you may need to break up the model and regroup it by texture map. You shouldn't need to remap the textures if the models broken down.
