I attempted to make a texture look about half transparent in Milkshape and it looked fine but when I exported into the sod format it was a solid texture??? and tga won't support the transparent background like a gif or at least I can't get them too...

Has anyone tried this and failed or succeeded???

ok, im not sure if it will work...open up the tex file in PSP, use the lasso tool to select the part of the texture that you want solid, goto selections and select save to alpha channel and then save the tex as a tga file....i have PSP (Paint Shop Pro) v7.0, im not sure what other versions/programs you can use...if its not too big and you don't have th right programs you could e-mail it to me at pantner@hotmail.com

Thanks for the advice. I have an easier time manipulating the alpha channel with Photoshop though.
