Hi, I saw in many Armada 1 & 2 mods that ships fire several torps and then wait for a few seconds an fire again. How is it possible to fire more than one torpedo at one time ?
usually, the ships have multiple weapons, such as torpedos, placed near each other. as a result, it looks as if the ship is firing multiple shots from the same weapon. other times, there are multiple weapons on a single hardpoint. the effect is similar. then there are some weapons that actually can fire multiple shots in rapid sucession. that can either be done by lowering the weapon's shot delay in the weapon odf so the torpedos fire very quickly or adding the following to the odf:
//save up our fire saveFire = 1
//max number of shots we can save maxShots = 4
//the minimum time between saved shots minimumShotInterval = 0.3
that allows the weapon to 'save up' it's fire so when an enemy comes into range, the weapon fires multiple shots in rapid succession. you can adjust the maximum shots up infinitley as far as i know so when your ship fires, it sprays a hundreds of shots at the poor enemy targeted. you can also adjust the minimumShotInterval so that there is less of a delay in between shots.

Sounds good, but like i thougt the game crashes if i alter the classLabel from "photontorpedo" to "cannon". But that is nessesary to get it work ("saveFire" works only with weapons with the classLabel "cannon"). Have i to change something in the ordinary file expect the classLabel to make it 'cannon compatible' or is there another solution ?
well, the place where i took the coding from was a custom quantum torp that came with the Admiral's Sovereign. it's classlabel was 'cannon' but the ordinance file's classlabel was 'photontopedo'. i think that if the ordinance file is like that then it can be done. after all, it worked for that weapon so it should work here too.
That worked realy, but another problem is that i wanted the torpedos to be shot ONLY if the given amount is saved. Now the ship fires the first time two torpedos (like i wanted to) and than it fires only one. I think it's because it only saves fire if there is no target. If it has one it fires anyway (if the torpedos're charged or not). Can i change that ?
not that i know of. i've seen in the admiral's soveriegn (again) a burst fire photon torpedo that fires about ten clustered together TNG-style almost every time the weapon is fired. i seems to fire like that only occasionally. i don't know exactly how it was done though. i suggest you download it and play around with the weapon odfs. hope that will help you.
The admiral's soveriegn uses burst fire torpedos in addition to the normal ones. They are defined with the classlabel "areacanon" and realy fire more than one topedo every time, but only on different targets ... :-/. I Think i'll try to make the torpedo a special weapon. In this case i could make the needed special energy charged when the time for enougt torpedos if over too ... mayabe that would work ... ;-) P.S.: Merry xMas everyone !

I wish that each ship had a set number of torpedoes that you had to manually fire via button. :(
That should be no problem. Make the torpedo a special weapon and set the special energy recharge rate of the ship to zero.
yeah, they did that in Star Wars Fleet Command for the fighters. each large ship had a 'torpedo reload' special weapon (borg special energy recharger) that would recharge speical energy for the fighters. for the regular game you could make a supply ship that would reload your ships torpedos. what do you think?
