Sounds like a driver problem. Update all of your drivers. Can't hurt. Go to start run msconfg startup then, uncheck any programs you don't need in the background eating resources. Virus and firewall eg. are pretty useless gaming online servers, so is multimedia etc etc. Don't forget bios updates on MB. Finally, download spybot at cnet.com. This has cured a lot of resource problems (below 70% is bad) and put off the need to reformat. Thank heaven for DVD's.

whoa...forgot about this thread... thanks for your input Xagent, but i've already done all that you've suggested (except updating the bios for the MoBo, i've heard to many horror stories about it being done wrong) i'm to the point that, with all my tweakin, now my frame rate drops below 30 only if there are to many other players near me in certain maps. this weekend i hope to reformat, and drop in another 512 megs of ram, hopefully this'll make a difference. also, i'm lookin into overclocking my vid card some.:uhm: again thanx, oh, and the cheque's in the mail. :rolleyes:

{On topic} Also if you have XP and use Fast User Switching, that will KILL your FPS dead. XP uses way to many resources on the other account logged in to your computer even if it is not doing anything with that account and they are not running any programs. Sorry if I didn't mention that earlier. The nice thing is that you can log the other users out from the task manager. {/On Topic}

Dr. Bob as in THE Dr. Bob???

I wonder one thing. Does FPS related to the RAM? I remember I've tried different settings with com_Cvars but none seemed to really affect my FPS value.

EVERYTHING relates to ram in the end. If you don't have enough Windows will use the hard drive for extra "ram" physical hard drive usage is a gazillion times slower than RAM. So that of course slows down usage.

But the FPS is related with the graphic card, no? And the graphic card is supposed to have its own ram? Does the graphic card takes ram in other areas of the computer?

@ Queeg- nope...i do use XP, but i only use the one account...unless there is another one (administrative or something in the background that windows has by default?) that i don't know about? already did the winXP tweaks...helped some...

@ BD- everything depends on (and is affected by) everything else...graphics card is only as good as the cpu speed, which depends on the amount of ram available...etc

<- What he said! The graphics card can't draw stuff when the computer hasn't told it what to draw yet!
