There have been requests in the past for servers running the Capture The Flag mode. I had my server running it, and P00h has his running it, but neither one got much traffic on it. I am wondering what people's feelings are about CTF mode. Do you like it? Do you not like it? What do you like about it? What don't you like about it? Would you like it better if it was changed somehow? What would you change? Does it depend on the map? I am just trying to get a feel for how players feel about it. Iggy
I've only played CTF a few times. The last time was I think last week on Pooh's server. I couldn't stay long, I got really really bad lag. I like CTF, the only problem I have is that I don't know where the damn flags are. :( I just run around shooting the opposite team and hoping I run into a flag. If I saw people on the CTF servers, I would join. CTF makes a nice change from objective.

Yeah I like CTF because there are serveral objectives at the same time and it can be anyone's game because when you have a lot of flags they can be taken more easialy by the oppsite team, it requires good teamwork and i like that.
@english rose, you can see where the flags are in the limbo menu just open it and click on objectives :p
ok, thank you, silly me. never thought to look there to see where they are. I never look there. Maybe I should dye my hair blonde and change my name from English Rose to Dumb Blonde:lol:
Hitting tab while playing also brings up a description next to each flag. That is a Godsend.
No I don't like CTF mode at all. Unless you have alot of people playing on the server, you just run around without seeing anybody else. Too much running around and not enough action.

@ dumb blonde hehe :p :p
@ hacko, you got a point there, they should host CTF at game2xs after 7:00 pm GMT, it's busy then and CTF is really nice with a lot of people
I'd have to kinda agree with the number of players idea - I love CTF, but when there are very few people playing you can end up running and running. Even a few people in a normal objective mode can result in awesome battles, but I've seen a less of that in CTF with the same conditions.
CTF may suffer more profoundly from "I don't want to join a server with only a few players"-itis. I'm not sure how to fix it though - unless we schedule CTF meets so that everybody knows that there will be more around to play. Hmmm.
I'm forced agree with Preacher. There is a direct correlation between the size of the map and the number of players needed. Now I know why CTF maps in RtCW have paths and stuff that are blocked off that are not blocked in MP mode. That's easy to do on inside maps and hard to do on outside environments.
my 2 cents on ctf. I love them because they rely on teamwork and planning. I'm a big OLTL shrub fan and miss the good old days at UDP. I'm thinking a limited life CTF server would be fun BUT * we need to teach folks where the flags are (I'm all up for that). Also teams need to pay attention, if 'main hall flag' is taken then you should know where the enemy is. note which flags you still hold then ambush them on thier way to the next flag. * folks need to learn to rely on each other (fustrated doctor speaking out) nothing worse that hangin you but in the fire to revive a teammate in hazardous conditions only to have them tap out on you. * We are lucky in that all of our CTF maps are well ballanced (though a swap teams in the script would be nice, and I'm working on that) The 2 {3} new ones (battlecreek and boulderdash {& machogrande} ) I think will be big hits.
