PARENTS are buying stab-proof blazers and hooded tops to keep their children safe on their way to and from school in the Capital.

One hundred and seventy of the military-style protective tops have been ordered by parents in Edinburgh in recent weeks from a firm based in east London.

They are designed to look like ordinary clothes, with the stab-proof Kevlar sewn into the lining.

Dang, now they're going to have to beat you to the ground before they stick the knife in you. =p

:vikki: Why don't just bring them to and from school in an APC? Or better yet, lock them in underground bunker where their kids are safe from all potential hazards no matter how small. :cort:

APCs are expensive, and difficult to make road-legal for civilians depending on which model you buy. And they're hardly going to learn anything being locked away in an underground bunker, now, are they?

I'm a proponent of kevlar. It means the gangs can continue killing each other, as they will do either way, but innocents are less likely to die in the middle. If you made guns legal they could even defend themselves and shoot back, but, we wouldn't want that now would we?

It's just a shame that those jackets don't look to be bullet proof as well as stab proof.

On another note, doesn't this mean that all of the kids are just going to look like hoodies now?

Since when has Kevlar been stab proof? A level 11B vest (protection from ballistic threats up to and including .44 Magnum) has absolutely ZERO chance of stopping a knife thrust so I'm highly skeptical of the veracity of this article. Cut proof yes, puncture? no.

SpaZy, next time someone sticks a knife in you, tell us how it goes. If you really do stab them back, then we'll give you some credibility.

In the meantime...be real. =/

That probably was in the united states, it comes with a set of bulletproof books and folders.
