LATHEN, Germany (AP) -- A high-tech train that floats on powerful magnetic fields smashed into a maintenance car on an elevated test track Friday, killing 23 people and injuring 10 -- the first fatalities on a magnetic-levitation train.
WOW! That must have been one hell of a crash. RIP.

Wow. The technology is still amazing though. Must be one hella expensive wreck though, all that magnetic track is probably frizzled and unusable.

Yeah it was on the news yesterday evening. Sounds like somebody failed at checkin to see if the "track" was available. I wonder why they would shut down any section a maintenance car is active on (magnatism field off around the car and a reasonable break section before and after the location so if any train would head for a maintenace section it would automatically be brought to a stop by the railway itself.
RIP for those who died. It's one beatiful system, sad to have to die during trial runs. :(
