This should be fun to watch

Led by users from the 4Chan image boards, a massive DDoS attack starting Friday and continuing into Saturday took down the websites of both the MPAA and AiPlex Software, which had been executing DDoS attacks of its own on BitTorrent sites such as The Pirate Bay. The MPAA site is up again, but that's because the attackers have moved on to the RIAA.

...

After MPAA attack, 4Chan group takes down RIAA site - National Technology | Examiner.com

4chan has disabled posting today, probably so that the RIAA and MPAA don't sue the site for the attacks.

4chan has fairly fairly well against people putting cats in garbage bins and Scientology. The MPAA and RIAA are a good bit larger than what 4chan has taken on before, so this will be interesting to watch.

Interesting. I had to go on 4chan to see for myself, and surprisingly, the same pictures are in the same spot that they were in 5 hours ago.

Can someone delete this? I didn't see my post above so I thought it didn't get posted.

Was (is?) it legal for AiPlex Software to be using a DDoS, even against a perceived shady site?

I'm not really a fan of 4chan, but I think what they've done is appropriate retaliation for the methods that the RIAA and AiPlex have deemed appropriate.

Not in the US, UK, and apparently several other countries. I don't know about Indian law regarding DDoS attacks, but I would assume they would be up for a lawsuit. Especially if the RIAA try pin 4chan with a lawsuit.

Little more than just another scheme to garner attention from the media. I assume they're fully aware that doing this will only help motivate the RIAA?

They note that the MPAA and RIAA, among others, "call it piracy," while Anonymous "calls it freedom."

... I guess they don't.

RIAA and MPAA probaly wont even notice it outside of one or two sysadmins. They dont do any real business on their sites so there is no money at stake

Ah, that was a fun night.

Well if everything's frozen, the 'Operation Payback is a Bitch' threads should still be there somewhere.

This is one of the few times I'm with 4-chan. Hope they kick some RIAA/ MPAA ass.
