So on Friday on XBox Live, the lady and I like to play 1v100 together. It was a live show and here is the question that made us both want to find my boxcutter and just end it all.

In the Declaration of Independence, what is an inalienable right?

a) the pursuit of happiness b) xray vision c) riding shotgun

The one chose to trust the top 10 players in the game. Here is their answer.. I shit you not;

: x ray vision

The majority of players? (There were 30,000 players)

: riding shotgun

Yeah.. we almost ended our lives right there surrounded by such stupidity. If the show was international, ok I can understand, but this is a US version we were playing. So that means only United States players were playing.

I don't know why you're surprised, Jeff. The state of public schools in this country has reached the point where the only people who have any clue what our founding documents actually say are those who seek them out for themselves. How many schoolkids do that?

One would (hopefully) assume that the "riding shotgun" answer was an extension of the right to bear arms. They do teach the bill of rights more than the declaration of independence at any rate. The x-ray vision guys don't even have a far-reaching decent excuse, though.

Are you sure that most of them weren't fucking around (except the one maybe)?

Fact: Did you know that the unalienable right were originally "Life, liberty, and land" before it was changed prior to signing?

I enjoyed the commentary, it was very well done. I was almost convinced that these were real commentators.

As for the answer, I would consider blaming the "lulz" effect. I don't know what types of questions are normally in the game but silly ones such as this often get thrown by players "for the lulz".

The answer was obvious, there is no doubt about it. Not even a bad education can account for top ten players to think x-ray vision is an inalienable right.
