Free Dictionary neck┬Ětie (nkt)

n. A narrow fabric band of varying length worn around the neck and tied in a knot or bow close to the throat

nettisolmio4.jpg

There are many kind of neckties with different colors, materials, patterns/figures and styles of how to tie them. For politicians wearing a necktie is more than usual and for western businessmen it's a virtual necessity.

What do you think about neckties, do you like to use them or do they just cause gray hairs for you? What kind of neckties do you use?

But most importantly, do you know how to tie one?

I can tie one, but I hate wearing them. They make me feel like I'm being choked. Why humans have decided that wearing a piece of cloth around your neck makes you look good is beyond me. Get rid of them, I say.

I've only worn one once and it is extremely uncomfortable. But they set an image, but still it's pretty stupid.

I used to have to wear a tie every day for school, so I can tie them, and they don't bother me the slightest bit. It's been such a routine, something feels wrong when I don't have it on at times :p

Sure, they can be a hassle, but I don't mind it.

I love ties. I rarely get to wear them in my current job, but I used to work in a place that required it every day. I know 3 tie knots, and have a tie rack full of ties. I don't think they're uncomfortable in the least.

They can be nice, I own one tie but rarely use it (special occasions). I haven't quite mastered how to tie my tie as you can imagen. =p

As for politicians and such: It can be used to sent out a message aswell yb not wearing a tie (such as the leader of the opposition or something).

I haven't worn a tie regularly since primary school. Even now, I struggle to tie the damn things whenever I dress formally. :p

I can't stand the random-patterned ties. Stick with solid colors, for real.

Anyway, I have a silk black one that I wear on occasion (with dress shirts, not just randomly... I do have some style-sense :P). I like how they look, but after awhile they get uncomfortable. I had to wear one where I worked, and occasionally wore them at Forensics and Debate tournaments, so that's a good 8 hours or so, and after a few days straight of that I can't stand 'em anymore.

And yes, I know how to tie one. I can't help but laugh when I see guys with clip-on ties. It's cute. It's also a good line to start a conversation with an ...interesting... guy (as a girl) "can you help me fix this? I think it's crooked." =p

I have only one tie, a red one with stripes in gray and black and I usually know how to tie it, but I only wear it with a suit, i.e. only a few times a year, so sometimes I forget and have to cheat using the instructions I've printed out... I actually like wearing a tie for a limited amount of time, but they have a tendency to make physical activities quite uncomfortable.
