Harlequin fetus...nasty.

The first time it was seen was in the mid 1800's. I'll try to find the report by a minister I believe...

Ah, 1750.

*****WARNING********* Do not read if you didn't like the rest of the discussion on this, it's quite brutal.

"On Thursday, April ye 5, 1750, I went to see a most deplorable object of a child, born the night before of one Mary Evans in "Chas"town. It was surprising to all who beheld it, and I scarcely know how to describe it. The skin was dry and hard and seemed to be cracked in many places, somewhat resembling the scales of a fish. The mouth was large and round and open. It had no external nose, but two holes where the nose should have been. The eyes appeared to be lumps of coagulated blood, turned out, about the bigness of a plum, ghastly to behold. It had no external ears, but holes where the ears should be. The hands and feet appeared to be swollen, were cramped up and felt quite hard. The back part of the head was much open. It made a strange kind of noise, very low, which I cannot describe. It lived about forty-eight hours and was alive when I saw it. "

Horrid mallady.

...And I just noticed it was in that link. :/

It was probably considered a devil baby or something.

Maybe it just never appeared before then where somebody delivered it and felt like writing about it. I shudder to think what would happen to the poor mother, after seeing her son/daughter be born like taht, then watch it slowly die, have both her and her husband called witches.

One in 300,000 isn't exactly going to be unheard of. That's rare, but not extremely rare. I'm guessing nobody said anything because they didn't want to be called witches.

Obi-Wan, are you talking about my signature? If so, use another translator, preferably human. It ain't that.

ApolloLOL!!! I am 12 and can stand this but like 16 an 18 20 year olds are afraid!!!

as obi said it is not so much the image but the thoght of such a thing. the suffering of the mother, the father, the child. just imagin the horror of a young couple deeply in love--excited to be having thier first child together and anxious (sp >_>) for the delivery day. only to have it finally come have have thier child born as such. put yourself in the fathers shoes. put your self in the mothers shoes. put yourself in the childs shoes.

grow up.
