Hi, I'm new to this forum and I was wondering if there is an easy way to alter the in game ship stats. I have noticed what I consider unrealistic behaviour with several ships such as the Bird of Prey and the Romulan Warbird. I would be interested in changing their stats for what I consider a better balance. It would also help for our groups LAN play as most of the others have given up on BC in favor of SFC 2 as they feel it has better ship balances. (I think it was the battle where the Galaxy and the War Bird got wasted by the Bird of prey) Needless to say we would like to change some of the ships hull values and firepower but none of us have done any mod work before. I was kind of hoping there was an easier way. Please let me know :) .
Sure, add all the phasers to the galaxy. The original game doesn't have all the phasers working, so it's possible for a BOP to sit in the galaxy's blind spot and pound it.
To bad there wasn't a way to fire phasers randomly, you could have a chance of hitting a cloaked ship.
Now a warbird and a bop, well, the warbird is alot bigger. U could beef up it's weapon hitpoints and shields so it can easily waste a galaxy, which is about right.
That wasn't quite what I was looking to do. I've never tried to mod anything and my prefferance is just to alter the existing stats for the in-game ships. Is this possible and is there an easy way to go about it as I'm very new to this type of thing.:uhm:
yea, download the SDK and you'll get all the .py files for each ship. Then you simply use the MPE and edit the damage numbers, and shield strength numbers. There is also a recharge number. Higher the number the better the recharge rate.
Thanxs Starforce2 I'll try the SDK. Should have thought of that
ok bo to the BCN http//www.bridge-commander.com and dl my weapon/torp mod there is a tutorial on modding and if that dosnt help my MSN Screen name is firstname.lastname@example.org its called Torpdeo pack V
SO, the SDK allows you to modify the PY files, so what else does the SDK do?
