while I was on spikedhumor.com I found this vid on awarness for anorexia, wasn't sure this pub material so I put it here.

below was my comment on the vid, and pretty much anoreixa in general [quote/having the same feeling that is being shared, that we all force an image of beauty and pefection on to people from all sources of media; whether it be from magzine, movies, television, modeling industry, etc. We, especially said industries, need to truly realize that their perfection of beauty is one-sided and that beauty comes in all forms. I believe that girls(and boys, cause I know that are boys who have thse disorders also) need to see that what they see in the mirror is something truly beautiful(as with the girl looking at her reflection. And that whoever says otherways doesn't truly know what beauty is or is really blind. Also to combat this we need to bring these topics to the forefront of awareness and education, and to rally against industry that force impossible standards of beauty on to girls. I have more to say on this topic, and topics that is very closely related to this but it'll become me writing an college level essay about this issue.

As you've probably noticed I'm very vocal about this, because I have a close friend whos sister was border line anorexic.

I agree with everything you just said. Beauty is not skin deep. People need to ignore the media and all that BS and see themselves for who they really are. It is a sad state of a social group that some individuals feel that the pier pressure and image is so much that they should starve themselves. Anorexia is serious. I go to school with someone who had a form of it. Its not nice to watch someone who is already ectomorphic waste away infront of your very eyes. She's back to normal now though.

Anorexic people are weak. The public attempts an imposition upon individuals in "motivating" them to obtain and embrace perfectionism, you say?

I disagree. There are no media influences carrying enough power to sway my mind over to considering anorexia or bulimia, let alone consider it. If I'm not disheartened by the messages, why should others? People are weak and shallow. Anorexic people are weak and shallow.

Beauty is not skin deep? So might be somewhat the case -- I'll certainly admit that personality matters a lot, and can cause a person to appear more (or less) attractive than their physical appearance alone, but in no way will a greatest personality in the world make me attracted to a behemoth of flesh regardless of her benignity. But, if there was a girl who had an appealing physical appearance, and a good personality, my attraction for her would be amplified by her personality.

So, beauty might not only be skin deep, but it is an undeniable factor in determining beauty. Bottom line a horror of nature would stand no chance of having a one-night stand with a conscious male despite her personality, while a female bestowed by Aphrodite in physical appearance, yet an incarnate of Loki, would have no problem in having a one-night stand with, well, any male.

And how come they're weak...something must have influenced into believing that they're physical attractiveness is not good enough. While personality is a factor in persons greater being, but by saying that a person who suffers from such illness is weak is uncalled for if you ask me

because I was in rush during my first post(was running to my next class), forgot to post the link(if any you hadn't yet google or visited the site) http://spikedhumor.com/articles/93449/How_An_Anorexic_Girl_Sees_Herself.html
