I'm torn between the subcompact and compact models... can't figure out what will be my next purchase. It will be used for punching paper, and maybe.. a huge MAYBE, for shtf scenarios, such as fallout 3 becoming a reality, or if zombies/vampires/home invaders becoming a threat. Concealed carry is out of the question since it is not allowed in my country, so a smaller pistol is not needed... but a nice compact, light pistol might come in handy if shtf and I need one, incase the zombes started multiplying. I'm thinking g27, getting an aftermarket 9mm barrel so I can use both calibers, 9 & .40, practice round and home defence round.... but i'd also like to know what you think :) Which model glock do you own, why did you choose it? If you regret your choice, which model would you choose? \\(I think i've been playing too much l4d2 :p)

I have a Glock 17 straight out of Japan, I can tell you, it is a beast! But, make sure you are gasing it correctly because if not, the slide might come off the rails......... Wait, were you talking about a real Glock?...... :lookaround: my bad!

Honestly..I really don't like glocks.. I'd shoot a smith and wesson over a glock any day..and of course i'd choose a Beretta m9 over any clock 9m.

Go to a range that'll lend you and fire them, get whichever you're most comfortable with.

If you're not carrying it, I don't see why you would get a smaller pistol. Longer barrels are usually the way to go, if you have no reason to get a shorter one. Go to a firing range, try out a Glock. For SHTF, figure out whatever type of ammo is most common in your country, and think of getting the pistol in that caliber. Odds are that it's 9x19mm Parabellum/Luger/NATO. Your conversion barrel idea is good, versatility is a good thing. Really, the best solution for SHTF ammo shortages is to stock up on ammo *before* you need it. See if you can get 1000 rounds squirreled away, it'll let you breathe easier.

Here Here! And just about the whole collection that one could own, I personally dont have a preface, I'm between the 17 or 19, other then that I go Smith and Wesson MP-40 very nice gun, not cheap, but I like it. My father is the one with the strange fixation on glocks, I havent a clue but I think he has to many hahaha (but one can never have too many guns)

To be honest I'd also recommend you go get an agreement with a range that has a large selection of firearms and would lend you one for tryouts. Since you might find out you prefer a completely different gun in the end - like a cz75 or a revolver so many americans love

I used to have a Glock 20 (fullsize) but ive got plenty of experience with glocks in the .40 range. The ONLY reason to use the subcompact is concealed carry. Anything with more snap than a 9mm very quickly becomes a wrist beater. The flash is also uncomfortable. for paper hole punching i strongly suggest you go with nothing smaller than a compact, with my choice of pistol being the 23 as far as Glocks go. Magazines are cheaper (you can use fullsize mags AND compact mags and are easier to find.
