I'm taking my first one in 2 weeks from tomorrow. It's AP U.S. History, and I'm incredibly nervous. I wasn't even this worried about my ACT.
Anyway, I wanted to know from someone who has taken the real thing exactly how brutal it is. I've been doing a lot of practice tests, studying all the eras, going over the biggest chunk of the test, and doing a few essays, so it's not like I'm just winging it. Additionally, I would like to know some strategies for improving my free response essays and DBQ, because I'm terrible at those. (I've done 3 practice DBQ's with my AP teacher, and he gave me either 6's or 7's. :\)
Thanks to anyone who can give me some info. :)
Look at my movie for a chunk of history ;) Just learn how to right essays and you shall be fine.
I've never taken one before, but I am taking AP U.S. History next year, you should tell me what the test/class is like. :D Good luck on it though.

I'm a strong essay writer, just the fact that it's timed and you have to know a lot about the subject right off hand without looking up anything. We have about 120 minutes to write three essays by hand. :|
Well, it takes me 30 minutes even less to write a 6 paragraph essay. I'm the kinda person who can't study, it must go into my brain the first time or it will never go in at all.
I'm taking mine in a few weeks. Don't worry about it, if you paid attention during class, can write the essays in the alloted amount of time, and did a little review, you'll be fine. The essay writing sounds a lot worse than it is, you've got 120 minutes, yeah, but you'll probably fly through atleast one.
took the ap today the act yesterday the ap was super easy the act math part was easy at the begining and progressivly got harder

You took the AP test early? WTF?
I wanted to take like 7 tests, but now it has been pruned to US Government, AP Biology, and AP Physics. I'm only taking AP Physics...
I've taken the AP Language test last year, and this year I'll be taking the US Government and the Liturature test this year.
And yes, they are pretty hard tests.
Here's a hint: Don't let the multiple choice sections get you down. On most of the tests, getting 50% of the multiple choice answers correct is a passing grade (at least for the multiple choice section). Focus hard on the essays.
I've taken AP English and AP Chemistry and am due to take AP Biology if you know your stuff from the class and get your teachers insight you should be just fine.
