m249They should have a Streaming video out of what a direct hit to a humvee at 200 meters from a RPG. I would want to see the extent of the damage (to tires, to cabin, would it still be drivable etc...) close up shots
Its toast. The RPG is capable of knocking out modern tanks, not to mention helicopters. Its pretty much like an IED, except more destructive in some cases.
KnippschildLAWs aren't meant to be used against personnel, just .. artilary
Some of the newer variants of the old LAW are though. Such as the M72E10, which fires an HE Fragmentation round meant for use against personnel.
I was referring to traditionals.
even the older rpg 7 is still efective against ligth vehicles , it all depends on the operator. judging from Iraq and Afghanistan footage with insurgents firing without aiming and from the hip, its not going to be very effective.
So long as there is a need for weapons like these they will remain on the battlefield of tomorrow.
As for what an RPG can do to a helicopter...October the 3rd 1993? I believe two helicopters went down and one RPG hit each. Although I guess a Blackhawk isn't the most stable or armored thing.
