Just thought I would start a thread about older gamers here. Im 38 trapped inside a 58 year old body lol. I have been gaming for longer than I care to remember but I still love my FPS games although I am not a great fan of the "backyard" size run and gun games like COD4, I prefer the open battlefield on games like ArmA, Red Orchestra and Opfp.
I come from a background of gaming where graphics were not everything and game play was.
I am also a great fan of flight simulators both combat and civilian. Cant wait for the release of Black Shark and the WWII tank sim T34 Vs Tiger.
So are you an old gamer ? and how do you feel about the current gaming scene ?

I'm barely more than half your age, but I've been gaming since about...three or four, can't remember, but it's been a LONG time. And before that, I sat down by my dad and watched him play Wolfenstein.
A Wolfenstein the memory's such a good game.

I am a 36 year old gamer. My wife says she feels like a pedophile since my interests are gaming, comics & music.

I'm 18, so to most of my friends who are still in high school, I'm old. =p
I have been playing games for a long time, probably since I was 8 or so. Back then it was the original DOOM and assorted flight sims. In those days we didn't have online multiplayer, so it was all about the singleplayer gameplay.

Used to play games quite a bit, but kinda grew out of them when I realised there was a world out there beyond a games console or my computer (still relatively young).
If I do play anything, it's very rarely nowadays as computer games no longer interest me. Though, I have been procrastinating about installing a game on my laptop for the past week or so. I'll get around to it eventually, but whether or not I'll play it is another story entirely.

I started gaming around 1990 with sims like Silent Service II, so I guess you could consider me an old gamer.
What I really miss are games with decent manuals. Nowadays you don't get that even if you pay extra for special editions.
Please don't kick.

Im hardly old. But I have been gaming since I was really young, and I will very probably continue to play them forever more. Considering my hopeful future career is in fact related to games (on the art side), it would be stupid to stop playing them. For me it's the perfect form of entertainment and escapism. So yeah...i'll keep playing them basically. As for the state of the gaming scene I think there is a fantastic lot of games to look forward to in the near future.

Yes and no, I've only been gaming for about 6 yrs, but I'm 50. So I'm still relatively new to gaming and haven't played lots of titles others have, yet I fit into the geezer age group. I started out playing demos of games like MoH Spearhead online, then started buying them. RTCW and Deus Ex were the first ones I bought. If I wanted to sound like a veteran at it I guess I could go senior center hoping and tell all the Wii bowlers I started out when I was very young at 44. LOL
