NCC1017spock;4113061ya I cant wait to see the big BOOM!! lol, cant wait to see the martians go flying.
You do realize that Mars is not spottable at every time of year do you? ;)
Mars is NOT 2 light years away. Jesus.

Mars is approximately 240,000,000 kilometres away from the sun which means it's 90,000,000 kilometres away from the earth since the earth is 150,000,000 kilometres away from the sun, to be a little more specific. :)

So yeah, saying mars is 2 lightyears away, that's dumb. If you calculate well, Mars is approximately 0.00001 light years away.

Mr. Matt;4113349No it won't. When one rock thwacks another, you don't get a ball of fire, you get a shockwave, an earthquake and a lot of dust. The energy released might be comparable, but it's not the same effect. Even if that were the case, you still wouldn't be able to see it with the naked eye.

That's why I have a telescope with about 150x magnification. In my eyepiece, Mars is about an inch wide. If it hits, and I'm correct on its effects, there should be a pretty big kablooie to see.
