Ok this is in referance to the post made by azzkiker
I personally don't like people who make things up with the intent of scaring people.
Just the mere suggestion that Gabe Newell would email him personally within 2 hours of recieving the nugget of information regarding the piracy of half life 2 is laughable.
He clearly hasn't actually seen the release to which he refers as he hasn't even named a release group
This is the funniest one, he suggests that in this 'email' he recieved from Gabe Newell personally valve are apprently 'mointoring steam accounts for users of warez copies of half life 2 and deleteing them.'
There are various releases by different groups for half life 2 now, the reason they work is because THEY DONT USE STEAM, so how on earth can valve be deletiing these users steam accounts when they almost certainly don't even have a steam account or have steam installed on there system?
If a software company released a warez version of there own software with the intent of prosecuting users of the warez version (which we know by now is bollocks) in any court in virtually every civillised country in the world it would be considered entrapment and therefore would be totally inadmissable in court.
So you see he has been blatently lying, and it is of no coincidence that he had disabled 'comments' on the page in which he posted this crap. Because he new very well that huge numbers of users would slate him telling what an idiot he is.
Well done azzkiker that url is on forums all over the internet with literally thousands of people all saying what a fool you are.
Just because he posted something that's crap, doesn't mean he's a fool. So just quit it.
So. You signed as a member to Gaming Forums, JUST to talk trash about Azzkiker? Really, you're certainly going overboard.
Well, there was a fake HL2 version available over BT for a while. I saw this when I downloaded a modification for a game. A bit later the file was gone.
I think the idea is quite good, give them a fake download, make sure it is the first that hits the net and include a little registry change that reports to Valve's servers.
Well, according to German law this would be something like "inciting to commit a crime" and therefore not valid if they'd try to sue you. But it's a good way to make sure that those people who want to play HL2 pay for it :)

I don't mind if he posted here since he know what he's talking about . :nodding:
Of course thats all well and good and yes that might be a good idea.
But that doesn't excuse someone making stuff up to try and scare people. After all if people want to play half life online then they have to buy it anyway and so if they download it it gives them the oppertunity to see if they like the game and would like to buy it.
In this case you are right, people will buy HL2 even after they played the downloaded version because of al lthe mods :)
I would die without my life.
