Nice One :rock: I'd be interested in the Scarab (Shuttle) for this mod as they feature alot in the series. As for the Basestar I think the port worked well(I think it looked better than the Battlestar) apart from the same problem with the Texture/panels being too big. They look realy shitty realy quick when it takes damage. But then I ran into Problems with the hardpoints ... Worked fine ... worked fine ... worked fine.... Huh what went wrong???? kind of thing. I think that now I'm just too close to it and I'm not seeing the wood for the trees. It's probably something realy stupid like ive got a duplicate Primary System somewhere. Shame as it was looking realy good up till then, so if someone wants a look let me know as it was almost ready, still neads a carrier file but I havent decided how to group them yet (do I go for convenience 2 launch groups or realism 10 hangers 20 launchers?).

In future I'll make a point of doing one model at a time. Think I learnt a lot about how not to go about this in future! I like to do a Thunderbird 3 some time soon!

If you need info on the battlestars go type battlestar Galactica and check out the sites This site will give you a base as to the original size of the ship before it was scaled down . The original ship was 2000 meters long by its original desingers plans . Revell and Monogram scaled it down wrong. Just the name Galactica on the landing bay is about 220 ft. for one size and maybe 440 ft. for the other. Blueprints put a raider at 63ft so that would put the galactica at 8900ft wide by 21200 ft long . The ships are armored and electronicly shelded have missles that are like photon torpedoes at 50 megatons. You also should notice that pulsar canons detonate on impact even though they are a beam weapon . Kind of shoot like the Defiants weapons . Weapons are 2 to a turet 6 barreled so they could fire without over heating. From the Liberty class a ship 1 fourth the size of the Galactica carried 800 crew 50 gunners, officers, 300 warriors 130 pilots 1 long range sensors 2short range sensors 20 forward and 20 aft turrents 8 tractor beams 8 missle tubes 110 fighters 8 shuttles and 5 land tanks or rovers .This ship would travel with escourts . BADWOODIf you need info on the battlestars go type battlestar Galactica and check out the sites

My estimates in relation to the size have been arrived at after almost 2 years of hunting the web and other sorces for info. If there is a web site which contains a refrence to Battlestar Galatica, I've been there... When I released version 1 of the BSG ship pack I based the size of the Galatica on the following paper, which I think is well thought out and well reasoned. http://ravensbranch.allen.com/galacticasize.html

However, when ported to Bridge Commander at 1249meters, the Ver.1.1 Galatica was out of scale with other ships whos size we were sure of such as the Viper and the Scarab shuttle. The clincher was however when I ported the Earth Alliance Destroyer for BC, this we were told was 95 meters long, and at that size, wouldn't fit into the above versions hanger (Greetings from Earth Parts 1&2). So the question was what scale/ size would be right for Ver. 2, the largest size quoted in the above paper was 15,000 feet, (about 3 miles or 4,500meters) rescaleing the model to this size however easly allows the EADestroyer to land on the hangerdeck with a reasonable saftey margin. Also when placed in 'Very' close proxcimety to the launch tubes (a few meters !), the viper model looks right in relation to them. Now I'm not saying this (Ver.2) is the 'Cannon' size of the Galatica, but for use in Bridge Commander, and especialy with the other BSG ships I've done, the 4.5km version feels and looks accurate.

As to your other point in reguards to the weapons systems, this I'm affraid was intentional. I'm well aware of the seemingly light load of my mod, however this is me pandering to the 'rabid' trek crew, who would have hollered 'God Ship' had I kitted her out with a full compliment of pulsar and turbo cannons. As to the missile launchers, this was in part an oversight(forgot to load the magazines), and in part still being unhappy with the torpedo scripts I'm currently using. What I realy want is a torpedo script that has a con trail attached, partly to be cannon to the misile launch sequence of the origional series, and partly influenced by the reinvisioned series pilot movie. I'm also toying with the idea of using modified shuttle launchers instead of torpedo tubes, so as to make them targetable projectiles and allow for vertical launchers, for that more cannon feel. I'll get round to doing an updated HP for these at some stage, with a more cannon weapon load and hopefully new torpedes.

The other issue people mentioned, that of the damage textures. 'Big ships crash the game when they explode' thats it, this is one that I have no solution to (but I'm open to ideas). So for now the damage is, and still will be, switched off, no adjustment to your game settings should be necessary as the damage is switched off in the scripts(other ships are however, still damageable)

Just a thougt to do a galactica battle fleet and then the bridge comander trekies would realy go bezerk. When they find themselves aginst a colonial battle fleet of 8 ships that don't lose everything when some one blows thier nose. No meat on the bones so to speak. Could be battlestars are to big for any thing but freespace ships with no size limit . One thing would probably be cool to man gun stations aboard the battlestar in a bridge commander ingagement actualy hitting diffrent parts of a ship from diffrent gun positions on the battlestar. Sort of like the old b17 flying fortress game. I hear the armor on a battlestar was measured in meters in stead of inches . Probley what let them absorbe a 50 kiloton nuke on the hull with only interior shock damage. Excuse the writing was a dropout in the 60,s my startrek was in black and white.

i thought that there is already a galactica model on the bcfiles website. unless u are referring to the enw version from the new short film thing.
