I was only making light with my "Comdon" post  I DO have a firewall, and Avast..it's free, but better than anything I bought, including McKaffee and Norton. You make a good point though..e-mail is only 1 way viruses are spread. If ya have cable, which I do, you always have at least 1 port opened....therefore ur vunderable.

I use Bullguard I have never been more satisfied, I cant say that with Norton as I find that the most USELESS anti-virus ever. Its so exposed!

I have a firewall and an anti virus and 2 anti spyware and ad-ware programs. All I'm saying is that I never open the attachment just in case there actually is free porn, or a cheap mortgage. There's a thin line between stupid and really stupid, im just stupid.

I 'm smart enough to filter out any suspicious emails/attachments but even I won't dare not to use any form of protection. You don't drive a car without wearing seatbelts either, even if you consider yourself an experienced driver. IF something goes wrong, wether it is you making a mistake or somebody else you will be glad that you protected yourself.

It is better to have yourself protected and never ever have to rely on it then looking back and cursing yourself why you didn't had a virus scanner and firewall on. Surely having a "needless" firewall/virus scanner can't do any harm evne if it does "no good" to you either.

yeah yeah yeah laidlaw, if there was an easy to setup and use linux that does everything windows does people would use it. that and most pc buyers just walk into a shop and walk out with whats easiest for them. using decent firewall, antivirus, and adware remover does the trick for most people. most of these viruses and crap exist because a large number people dont protect their pc's properly. there are millions of pc's out there with viruses etc on them and the users dont even know it

Thinking about it.

I really think you are pretty stuiped if you run without a firewall (no offence) but ya. And to the linux poster, it will come in email so you still have the worry (I think LOL). Also, I think if you have a free I think you are in a high risk. I have the ZA highest program. Firewall, IM security, virus, spyware, and more. I will not advertise for them, but you should look into it seriously. I know I will be protecting my self for a good while.

Linux probably wont launch this virus because it wont be compiled to run on Linux systems, but saddly, nither will most stuff like many games, programs, etc. Windows users take for granted.
