there IS a nif importer.

Only a few modders have it and they don't share it with others.

If they did it would be really easy to steal other's models and make a few changes to them and call them YOUR model.

A nif importer is a big no-no.

Yeah, it wouldnt be kewl if folks stole other peoples work, but there seems to be nothing wrong with folks using the SFC files to make BC files.

I suggest that rather than not making an inport/export plugin for nif, but we require folks to ask permission of the originator of the nif files to use their nif before releasing them.

@Raedius : the only person I know that have some knowledge of nif files for BC is Banbury, this is his email... baley5@excite.com I was able to discuss the problem with him and he seems willing to accept help in creating a new nif2nif converter for the 3d studio max files. He is very busy, so you will need to be patient. He has always responded to my emails.

email me if you have more questions feddel@hotmail.com

this has been going on for ages in SFC, there is importers and exporters for sod (armada) as well. I really don't think that many people would steal stuff. Also, people steal anyways at BC, by simply switching readmes. So not having a nif importer isn't going to stop theft.

Dear Raedius, The solution to your problem lies on installing Milkshape. Afterwards just search for the 'MilkShape 3D Plugins R4 No Installer' which is a 953kb NIF plug-in for the program. Copy and paste the zip content into the program directory, which also involves rewriting of 2 files. I tried converting one file just now, and it works perfectly. Regards.

Are you blind? Why would you revive a 5 YEAR OLD thread?
