2nd amendment at it's finest.

Instead of offering a free toaster or a trip to the Bahamas, a Florida truck dealership decided to do something different for the holidays: Anyone who buys a truck, will get an AK-47. “We wanted to come up with a promotion, that would stir interest,” said Nick Ginetta, the general sales manager at Nations Trucks in Sanford, Fla. “Well, business has tripled in the last few days.” Mr. Ginetta kicked off the promotion last Wednesday on Veteran’s Day.”So many veterans have given so much for our right to bare arms,” he says. “That’s why I did it, when I did it.” The store does not actually sell the iconic Soviet-era rifle. Instead, people hoping to own the most popular battle rifle of all time are given a $400 voucher that can be redeemed at a local firearms store. The retail price of the rifle is approximately $900. “I chose the AK-47, because I knew it would create a stir. I knew the anti-gun crowd would be appalled,” he said. “If I gave away a Remington pump-action shotgun, I wouldn’t be on the phone with you.” While Mr. Ginetta says he would have preferred to offer an American-made battle rifle, he says the cost would have been to high for him. The sale has proven to be so popular, that people outside of the United States are asking if they are eligible for the sale. “I’ve had to tell Canadians that I can’t give them the vouchers,” he says. “Instead, people who can’t own or don’t want to own it can get $400 for themselves.” Did Mr. Ginetta take advantage of the sale? “I’m a gun owner, but it’s not a gun I’m interested in owning right now.” Everyone who purchases the weapon must pass a state and federal application process, including a police background check. In order to own the rifle in Florida, you must be an American citizen, free of any criminal convictions and willing to wait a three day waiting period. There is no licence required to own the rifle. In Canada, the AK-47 is classified as a prohibited weapon under federal law.

Actually it's a $400 voucher. Or $400 if you can't or don't want to own it. The gun is actually $900.

God. Bless. America.

This guy is awesome, “I chose the AK-47, because I knew it would create a stir. I knew the anti-gun crowd would be appalled,” he said. “If I gave away a Remington pump-action shotgun, I wouldn’t be on the phone with you.”.

That guy who thought of it must of been seriously high when he thought of the idea. OR Somebody made a joke about it in a meeting and thought he was serious.

"The right to bare arms"? The national post seems to be a bit confused what that right is all about. Maybe they think people who want to proudly display their hairy arms while driving their new truck also want the reassurance of being able to take out anyone who mocks them.

I wonder whether they get a semi-auto or full-auto version of the rifle.

In other news, Iraq imposes waiting time on suicide vests: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0Zj5XxK9ec&feature=related

Don't know why anyone would need one. There's no zombie outbreak and hunting with an AK wouldn't leave much.

Yes it has. It says that business has tripled in the last 3 days.
