Apparently you can only post thrice a day on the forums. I don't know if this is for new users only or if it applies to everybody. Somebody went around spamming the forum and this is their answer. I've never seen this on any other forum.

Well that day doesn't seem to be in the foreseeable future and I really hope that never becomes the case.

I've been on a few forums where they seem to have a trial type membership, where access is severely limited at first and you only get made a full member if you prove your worth kind of thing.

We used to do a similar thing where we disabled a lot of features until hitting 10 posts, it discouraged spam etc.

What is 'proving your worth'?

And did you disable necessary features back in the day? What is the point of a discussion forum where one can't fully discuss?

Even if you can justify all that, this one place is the only I have seen out of all the other forums I've been to with such a policy.

Between that and hearing about the toxicity in the Doom community, seeing some hints of it myself in the forums and not having at least 2 admins give so much as a peep even though I know for a fact that they have read my messages, I really don't see the point in me participating the forum. They can have their snooty elitists' club and leisurely rot their brains hollow in the inevitable echo chamber.

What is 'proving your worth'?

The only example I can give is a forum I used to be a member of called Sonic Retro, you basically get 20 posts as a trial member, and at that point your account is disabled, and only if you're deemed worthy enough do you get full membership. So I am only guessing but they may be running some kind of trial system, so maybe you get to post more if the mods deem you worthy enough. Or it's just that kind of place and they'd rather gimp functionality then moderate it properly.
