How do we know that an insane person doesn't feel like a sane person? They might think they are perfectly sane in their own mind. Sanity and insanity are all entirely subjective.

Not entirely , but the point still has been well made in this thread, or has it.

well its widely thought that insane people do not know they are insane, and if you think about it, its very true

if you knew (*thought*) you were insane, then theres obviously some mental instability but you should be capable of controlling your actions in a way deemed "normal", and i dont think you could be considered psychotic, again just other serious mental problems. i think you can save yourself, but not entirely on purpose, i think it sort of slowly happens over time. maybe a certain situation was cause you to be severely stressed and act in that manner, the situation is now gone and you slowly go back to normal over time as you realize what is all happening and have time to think about it. the process of helping people in a physic-ward, is i think, pretty much trying to get them in touch with reality again, and letting them know that things are different from what they seem, and once they realize that, i think they are healed.

i think most people can be healed if someone will put the effort forth, but there might always be people, who cant even function normally, that are probably beyond general psychiatric help im no psychiatrist, but thats my thoughts on the matter

omg i think i am pressing to the point of insanity. so im using this to my advantage. haveing feeling first hand i think a mind cannot be saved for i know that even if the problem for my insanity is solved just somehow it will reoccur. if anyone had trouble understanding that just say ill ill try to simplify it.

Most people who's minds are imbalanced, think that they are normal, and that the people are the insane ones. Someone who is insane mabey in denial, and may not seek help. So you cannot force someone to get the help they need.

sure some people may deny help, but i think if they were helped then there is a good chance they could get better, and if they know something is wrong with them, there might be a chance they can help themselves. if they cant get rid of the thoughts or whatever be it, they might be able to learn how to figure reality from imagination or put aside bad thoughts or whatever the problems may be so that they can function normally in society

i dont think most people get psychiatric help for themselves, i think it usually comes from the suggestion or aid of others to seek help, and sometimes in bad situations the family or whomever will have the person committed if they are a danger to themselves or someone else
