I thought this one belongs in the General Discussion and not in the spam forum, since it's a quite interesting self-test.

Now, I suggest you read with as much attention as possible: There are two comrades - Michael and Joshua. The bad thing is, they are both one-legged. The good thing is, Mike has lost his left leg and Jo - the right one. So, one day they decide to buy themselves a new pair of shoes, though their overall budget said it was no go. So they decide to buy one pair for both of them, right. They go the local market and bargain out a pair for 25 dollars (and pay 12$ 50c each). When the deal is done, they each get their shoe and back away. But, then they're almost gone, the seller man decides to spare them a 5 dollars from the total cost (2,5 for each). So he tells his apprentice to catch up with them, who quickly realises he could get something out of this task and save 3 dollars for himself, while two dollars return to the comrades - 1 dollar for each, which means they've both payed 11,5 dollars for their shoe, so they've spent a total of 23$ on their bargain. But 23 and 3 is 26 dollars, and they only paid 25! How come that there's such a difference?

If you know what that is, then... don't post the answer or anything related to the solution, OK?

Shall be it by the 13.11.2005, 13:00 GMT anyway.

Because the point is to give people a chance to figure it out for themselves. It's no fun if someone tells you right away.

I do think I figured it out, though ;)

I know the answer I think, isn't hard at all (or it has to be a devious tricky riddle).

12.50 - 1 is 11.50, however. They paid 12.50 and got a dollar returned. THat means the net payment for the boys is 11.50 each.
