How many have you have read this account of a trip through the Chernobyl "dead zone"?

I was surprised that you could get that close to the reactor safely. It's a very detailed trip, and the tour of Ghost Town is....well even reading about it is kind of spooky.

Wasn't that story proven to be fake?

The thing is, how is that fake? Where did all the pictures come from? Why bother faking it?

Why do people come up with fake news, stories etc.? Because they want to gain attention, to get a laugh (fooling as many people as possible) or make you believe certain things (that aren't true) for one reason or the other.

Fake or not (I don't know nough to either prove or disprove the claims), Chernobyl remains a very intresting subject. :nodding:

No, that one IS fake. She admitted to it.

Actually, I should say it USED to be fake. I think she edited it and apologized. Basically, the Ukraine government was outraged when they read it and found out that the staff at the checkpoints let someone in on a motorcycle.

I'm not sure if she took out the part about her riding around in there or not - I didn't click the link. But the rest of the article is true.

I dont know all of the story about it being roven fake, but I think one reason people dont believe it is because motorcycles aren't allowed in the area. I dont know how true that is, but I have read it in a few places. There may have been other circumstances involving her trip, so I can understand why some people still believe it is true. To me it doesnt really matter, it was an interesting story nonetheless.

Yeah, the whole story of Chernobyl is very facinating.

Reagrdless of if it was fake or not, it really looks real. I wouldn't think anyone would be allowed in there, no matter what their qualifications.

The one picture that really struck me was this one: image537dj.th.jpg

I'm not sure where it is, fake or real, but it sure looks like a home destroyed by radiation to me.

Very cool site, i hadn't seen it until now.
